A not-for-profit organisation
Giving Unpublished Works a Pathway to Performance
From Page to Stage is a not-for-profit organisation that takes writers' unpublished scripts from scratch event to fully staged production — step by step.
What we do
A structured journey from script to stage
From Page to Stage is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to giving writers' unpublished works a pathway to performance. Through a carefully structured programme — from scratch events and workshops through to fully rehearsed productions — we develop new writing and bring it to life in front of real audiences.
"Every great production begins with an unperformed script and the courage to take it further.

The journey
The timetable and calendar of events
The Scratch Event
A day of scripted performance in front of a critical audience
Eight short works are performed across the day — four in the morning and four in the afternoon — each receiving structured feedback from the audience.
- 5 minutes to set up — the writer introduces their work to the audience
- 10-minute performance, scripts in hand if needed
- 10-minute flip chart Q&A, with the feedback sheet given to the writer
- 5 minutes to strike
From these 8 pieces, 4 are selected to move forward into workshops.
Two Days of Workshops
A director, the writer, and actors — up to four parts
Each selected work receives two dedicated workshop days, separated by three to four weeks, to develop the script, characters, and staging.
- Day One Morning: open discussion on what the writer wants the work to convey, followed by a reading and a decision on which scenes to workshop
- Day One Afternoon: workshopping scenes, finishing with discussion on rewrites and character development
- Day Two Morning: characterisation discussed and workshopped with back story developed, followed by a reading of the revised work
- Day Two Afternoon: workshop key scenes, then run the full piece
From these 4 works, 2 are chosen to move forward to a fully staged production.
Two One-Act Play Showcase
Fully rehearsed, with sound and lighting, in a theatre environment
The two selected plays are staged as a professional showcase — fully rehearsed with sound and lighting design, performed as individual one-act plays separated by a 45-minute interval.
- Full rehearsal process with director, cast, and production team
- Sound and lighting design for both productions
- 45-minute interval with audience vox pops captured on sound and video
- Opportunity for one of the remaining pieces to tour the Fringe Circuit
A 60-minute rehearsed performance in a theatre environment — and a potential route to the Fringe Circuit.
From the first word on the page to the final curtain call.
About us
A not-for-profit dedicated to new writing
From Page to Stage exists to give writers' unpublished works the opportunity they deserve — a real audience, professional development, and a pathway to the stage.
We believe that great writing shouldn't sit in a drawer. Our structured programme takes scripts through scratch events, intensive workshops, and fully staged productions — giving writers expert feedback, dramaturgical support, and the experience of seeing their work performed.
As a not-for-profit organisation, our mission is to support new writing and the writers behind it — at every stage of the journey.
